Disney has announced a groundbreaking partnership with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, allowing users to insert their own likenesses into AI-generated videos featuring beloved characters from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and other Disney franchises.

This collaboration centers around OpenAI's video generation app, Sora, which enables users to create short videos up to 20 seconds long using simple text prompts.

Previously, OpenAI struggled to prevent unlicensed use of copyrighted material in Sora, leading to legal threats from rights holders.

To address this, Disney is investing $1 billion in OpenAI and licensing approximately 200 of its iconic characters, including R2-D2 and Stitch, for use within the app.
