Why it matters
The Sony LinkBuds Clip introduces an open-ear design that balances audio playback with environmental awareness, catering to users who need to stay alert while using earbuds. Its AI-enhanced voice processing and multiple listening modes address common challenges in noisy or public settings, offering a versatile audio solution. The launch in India broadens consumer access to innovative earbud technology that prioritizes situational awareness and sound quality.
Sony, the Japanese sound and electronics brand, has launched its LinkBuds Clip earbuds in India. These truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds feature an open-ear design that does not insert into the ear canal but clips onto the outer ear, allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings while listening to audio. Sony had previously introduced the LinkBuds Clip internationally in North America earlier this year and has now expanded availability to the Indian market.
The LinkBuds Clip earbuds are priced at ₹18,990 in India and are available in four colors: Green, Greige, Black, and Lavender. They can be purchased through online retailers as well as Sony’s official stores and website.
A key feature of the LinkBuds Clip is its open-ear clip design, which keeps the ears unobstructed. The earbuds offer three listening modes that users can switch between by double-tapping: Standard Mode for everyday use, Voice Boost Mode to enhance clarity in noisy environments during calls or podcasts, and Sound Leakage Reduction Mode to prevent audio from leaking in quiet public spaces.
Additional features include Sony’s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology to improve compressed audio quality, dual microphones for clear calls, a phone connection sound sensor, and AI-based noise reduction to minimize background noise. The earbuds support Android Fast Pair and Windows Swift Pair for quick device connections.
Battery life extends up to 37 hours with the charging case, with the earbuds alone lasting 9 hours and the case providing an additional 28 hours. A quick 3-minute charge offers up to 1 hour of playback. The LinkBuds Clip also has an IPX4 rating for sweat and light water resistance. Users can customize sound settings via the Sony Sound Connect app, which includes a 10-band equalizer and supports Google Gemini integration.
