WhatsApp gets 4 major upgrades: You can now sign up on iPad, edit PDFs and more

WhatsApp has now introduced a new set of features to make the messaging platform more useful across tablets, desktops and cars. The latest update brings direct account registration on iPads, an improved car experience, support for editing PDF files inside chats and easier music sharing via Status. Till now, the iPad users had to link the app to an existing WhatsApp account on their smartphone. Now, the users can sign up from the iPad itself without needing to pair it with another device. The Meta-owned messaging platform has also refreshed its interface for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The users can now access recent calls, favourite contacts, messages and voice calls directly from their vehicle's infotainment screen. PDF files can now be opened inside the app without downloading them first. In addition, the desktop and web users will be able to make basic edits such as highlighting text and adding annotations. The editing functionality is powered by Adobe Acrobat integration. Another new feature focuses on music sharing. Users can now post songs from Apple Music and Spotify directly to their WhatsApp Status. Instead of manually sharing links or screenshots, the feature allows tracks to be added with just a few taps, making it easier to share what they're currently listening to. The company says all of these features have started rolling out globally and will become available to users over the coming weeks.
